Indian Army to Deploy 20 New ROVs

The Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO) Student Robot Competition 2010 was inaugurated in Chennai, India, by Sundaresh, Chief Controller Research and Development, Armament and Combat Engineering. Sundaresh stated that the Indian Army has decided to deploy 20 new Remotely Operated Vehicles (ROVs), which were built by the Research and Development unit of DRDO located in Pune.

Robotic Mine Rescuers

Coal miners may soon have new guardian angels in China in robotic form. Given the rather dismal safety record of Chinese mines this is seen as a positive move. A factory in north China is going to begin producing coal mine rescue robots that will enter the hazardous areas of mining accidents to collect data.
