ROVs Find Air France 447 Flight Data Recorder

The flight data recorder of Air France 447 which crashed nearly two years ago has been found by robots that are combing the sea floor of the Atlantic ocean. The cylindrical Honeywell ruggedized flight recorder has been submerged in water for over 23 months and it is as yet uncertain is the data it contains is retrievable. The gadget recorded data from the planes instruments.

NASA Robotics Technology is Being Used at Fukushima Nuclear Plant

NASA technology is being put to good use at the site of the Japanese nuclear power plant disaster. The design techniques that were used by NASA’s Jet Propulsion Lab in Pasadena in California were used for the Mars rover are the same design now being used inside the nuclear reactors in Japan in areas that are not yet safe for human crews to visit.
