A number of research and development professionals in the field of robotics are meeting for a two day national symposium in Dighi, Pune.
The symposium is being organized by the Research and Development Establishment (Engineers) at their center on April 28 and 29. The R& DE(E) is a part of the Defence Research and Development Organization or DRDO.
People from the industry, academia, research labs and users will come together to see live demonstrations of several unmanned air, ground and underwater vehicles during the symposium. The representatives of the Army, Air force, paramilitary and police forces will also be attending the conference.
Academia will be represented by IIT – Kanpur, IISc- Bangalore, and BITS – Pillani. These are some of the premium technology schools in India. The research and development organizations who will be part of the conference include organizations like DRDO, ISRO, and BARC.
The conference, being arranged as part of the Golden Jubilee Celebrations of R&DE (E) will be inaugurated by W Selvamurthy, chief controller, R&D, DRDO on Thursday morning. Lt Gen (Retd) VJ Sundaram, advisor, National Design & Research Forum will be delivering the keynote address.
S Guruprasad, director of R&DE(E), said this is the second time that the organization is organizing a national-level symposium on unmanned vehicles and robotics, the first having been organized in November 2008.
