Portable Robot Powered with Android Applications

iRobot has collaborated with Google to develop android applications for the robot Ava, which is a mobile robot. The Android applications are being displayed at the Google I/O developer conference, which is going on at San Francisco, CA.

Colin Angle, chairman and CEO of iRobot stated that Ava may be considered as one of the first app-ready robot and by incorporating Android- based applications; Ava is all set to transform the way people relate and pass on information remotely. By the right kind of orientation, Ava can also change the lifestyle of people both at home and at work.

iRobot Ava may be considered as a step forward in the portable robotics platform designed to enable robot creators, application specialists as well as market improvement professionals to accelerate the search for versatile, economical, portable robotic solutions. The robot Ava is developed in such a way as to work with a pad-based port.

Andy Rubin from Google stated that they have been associated with the Ava platform for the last few months and are amazed by its potential. App developers have contributed immensely for Android equipment over the last several years and robots such as Ava are an exhilarating prospect for this group.
