Double Robotics Receives Major Investment from Grishin Robotics

Grishin Robotics has declared about its $250,000 investment into Double Robotics. The other terms of the deal have not been disclosed by the parties yet.

Double Robotics develops telepresence robots. These innovative robots utilize iPad as a platform and works right "out of box". It is light weight, features a versatile design, has a high level of simplicity and affordably-priced.

Double Robotics has secured $1.2 M (600 units) in pre-orders (in one month following the launch), from 44 international countries, where 24 universities, and 17 Fortune 500 companies serve as customers. With sales of first production run of Double, Grishin Robotics will primarily capitalize on scaling manufacturing, hiring and further product development. New pre-orders will be provided in early 2013.

ABI research data stated that worldwide telepresence market will attain $13.1 B by 2016 end. The product is being adopted by the existing customers of Double Robotics for security surveillance, healthcare, teleconferencing, real estate and museum tours, presentation purposes and beyond. Telepresence is a potential environment according to industry experts. Also, it has the competence to promote the growth of personal robotics market.
