Volz Servos has achieved orders from AAI Unmanned Aircraft Systems. Complementing this contract, the company will deliver servos for Aerosonde Small Unmanned Aircraft System (SUAS).
DA-15 servos of Volz are being deployed on the Aerosonde SUAS to activate the air vehicle’s flight control surfaces and engine throttle. The DA-15 servo refers to a micro actuator that measures 15mm / 0.59-in wide. It includes hardened steel gears and CNC-machined aluminum case sealant resistant to salt water that meets the IP67 standards for water/dust intrusion, EMI/RFI shielding.
Established in 1983, Offenbach Germany-based Volz is known for designing and manufacturing servos. Volz servos has been found to be effective for several UAV and industrial applications that complies with reliability, performance, and durability requirements that is relatively not possible with off the shelf remote control (RC) aircraft servos.
The newly developed Volz actuator products have been designed to be compatible with complex actuator applications. Volz’s CEO, Phillipp Volz says that Aerosonde SUAS of AAI is outstanding due to its multiple features and significant capabilities that are reflected through its achievement of recent contracts with the US Department of Defense. Volz’s servos are being adopted by AAI for advanced UAV and also for its further SUAS business expansion.
Volz’s actuators benefit several industries including medicals, aviation, automotive, aerospace, and robotics. In addition, it has also been deployed across several worldwide engineering and university laboratories for fundamental research purpose.
