PTC Complements Winning Teams of FIRST Robotics International Championship

PTC congratulates the teams of For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology (FIRST) Championship competition for their achievement of several awards. Sponsored by PTC, this competition took place from April 25-28, 2012, at St. Louis, Mo.

FIRST is PTC’s global initiative intended to create strong professionals who will bring more innovations to their respective companies.

Dean Kamen established FIRST in 1989, which is now the “Super Bowl of Smarts”. Over 300,000 international students in grades K-12 participate in FIRST each year. These innovative, mentor-based programs are being conducted to promote science, technology, engineering, and math skills among the student community.

PTC congratulates Mr.Jay Cameron, who won The Woodie Flowers Award during the Worcester Polytechnic Institute regional in March. This award honors excellent communication in the art and science of engineering and design.

During the 2012 FIRST Championship, the following awards were presented to PTC sponsored teams:

  • FRC Awards
    • SPORK, won the Dean’s List award
    • Innovation and Control Award was presented to High Rollers from Las Vegas, NV; and The Pink Teamfrom Rockledge, FL achieved the Team Spirit Award. PTC complements these two teams who achieved the final six out of 2,343 FRC teams that competed a year long.
  • FTC Awards
    • Boot Strap Award was presented to Auto Vortex from Bucharest, Romania. Antipodes from Pacifica, CA, won the PTC Design Award.
    • PTC also exhibited PTC’s solutions-based robots during the 2012 FIRST Robotics Championship. Also, demonstrations were conducted on PTC software usage.
