XIMEA Unveils MQ Series USB 3.0 Industrial Camera

XIMEA has built the smallest industrial camera based on the MQ Series using EZ-USB FX3 USB 3.0 Controller from Cypress Semiconductors. The new machine vision camera is called USB 3.0 SuperSpeed.

USB 3.0 Camera

The MQ series forms the data interface for the camera, the camera is capable of 5 Gbps or the pixel equivalent of 400 megapixels per second. By using the MQ series interface, XIMEA is able to provide high-processing speed and has used high-grade CMOS sensors for building the ultra-compact camera.

The camera is equipped with enhanced quantum efficiency in visible and NIR spectral ranges. The resolution range provided by the camera varies from VGA to four megapixels with frame rates of up to 600 fps. Advanced features like opto-isolated trigger input, on-board non-volatile memory and lighting synchronization output are provided through the use of the MQ series interface. The HDR model camera provides a dynamic range of 100 dB. The dimensions of the camera are 26.4 x 26.4 x 19.1 mm and it weighs only 26 gm having a maximum power consumption of 1.8 W. With these physical parameters it qualifies as the world’s smallest industrial machine vision camera. The camera is armed with APIs that suit most of the commonly used image processing softwares such as Matrox, Cognex, MVTec etc. USB 3.0 offers a higher degree of usage flexibility when compared to USB 2.0. By using the FX3 controller from Cypress, the camera is made compatible with a number of platforms such as West Bridge peripheral controllers, Wireless USB 2.4 GHz radios etc.
