Study Discusses Benefits of Robotic-Assisted Partial Nephrectomy Surgery for Kidney Cancer Patients

A new study, published in the February issue of Health Affairs, found that in terms of quality-adjusted life-years gained, the benefits of robotic-assisted partial nephrectomy surgery for kidney cancer patients outweighed the health care and surgical costs to patients and payers by a ratio of five to one.

Study Confirms Safety and Feasibility of Magellan Robotic System in TACE Procedures

Hansen Medical, Inc. -- An abstract accepted for presentation at the 40th Annual Society of Interventional Radiology (SIR) Meeting (February 28 - March 5, 2015, Atlanta, GA), found the use of the Magellan™ Robotic System in transarterial chemoembolization (TACE) procedures is feasible, and that remote robotic catheter navigation with Magellan leads to over 80% reduction in radiation dose to the operating physician when compared with a bedside control.

Eve, an artificially-intelligent 'robot scientist' could make drug discovery faster and much cheaper, say researchers writing in the Royal Society journal Interface. The team has demonstrated the success of the approach as Eve discovered that a compound shown to have anti-cancer properties might also be used in the fight against malaria.

Cerebellum May Play a Vital Role in Controlling Modern Robotic Arms

Grasping an object involves a complex network of brain functions. First, visual cues are processed in specialized areas of the brain. Then, other areas of the brain use these signals to control the hands to reach for and manipulate the desired object. New findings from researchers at the University of Missouri suggest that the cerebellum, a region of the brain that has changed very little over time, may play a critical role. Findings could lead to advancements in assistive technologies benefiting the disabled.

Ekso Bionics Announces Pan European Study to Examine Benefits of Ekso GT Robotic Exoskeleton
