AlertEnterprise has announced that its NERC CIP Compliance Automation Solution for Utilities will be showcased at Distributech 2011, which will be held in San Diego between February 1 and 3, 2011.
The NERC CIP Compliance Automation Solution was unveiled during joint NERC CIP Webinar, held by Energy Central and AlertEnterprise on January 25, 2011. Michael Assante, former Chief Security officer of NERC, and Jasvir Gill, Founder and CEO of AlertEnteprise, have stated that the effective perception of NERC CIP has led to the development of a compliance automation solution offering a safer and intelligent grid.
Mr. Assante mentioned that safety value is a critical aspect of NERC CIP compliance and AlertEnterprise has adopted an active policy enforcement approach in developing the NERC CIP compliance automation solution. Jasvir Gill mentioned that their automation solution is meant for the difficult NERC CIP conformance issues such as Continuous Monitoring for Remote Control Rooms and Substations, Employee/Contractor Background Certification and Validation and Identification and Categorization of Critical and Cyber Critical Assets. He added that they actively implement rigid demands to eliminate physical access of terminated staff.
NERC CIP-001 to CIP-009 receives complete conformity management from AlertEnterprise’s NERC CIP Compliance Automation Solution by mapping Critical Assets and Cyber Critical Assets to IT Security and Physical Access Controls, IT security gaps, effective risk modeling to reveal compliance deviations and risks related to physical access.
The compliance automation solutions of the company are deployed in several major utilities such as Florida Power & Light/NextEra, OG&E, Allegheny Energy, NIPSCO and Consumers Energy.
