PI Releases New Linear Accelerator for Automation Applications

PI has released the M-272 linear actuator, ideal for automation applications. It is developed based on the PILine ultrasonic ceramic motor that does not require maintenance.

M-272 Linear Actuator

The PILine ultrasonic piezo drives can effectively substitute combinations of motor-leadscrew and electromagnetic linear motors when swiftness and minimum dimensions are significant factors. The drivers can attain a maximum velocity of 200 mm/s. PILine motor features auto-locking feature at rest condition and it does not liberate heat during operation.

The M-272 linear actuator links linear encoder, motor, guiding system, actuator and brake functionality in a single package. A payload can be fixed to the M-272 drive’s drive rod and is accurately placed by means of a combined guiding system.

Other significant attributes of the M-272 linear actuator include energy efficiency, 50 mm travel range, a resolution of 5 µm along with an integrated linear coder, latest dynamics for quick settling and absence of an external brake system.
