Agilent Technologies has included the new BenchBot Robot to its automated microplate handling equipment series. The new robot accompanies the BenchCel Microplate Handler and Direct Drive Robot of the company’s Automation Solutions’ instrumentation portfolio.
The BenchBot robot can be deployed for mid-sized microplate handling applications and can cope with several workflow requirements of labs. Its compact and scalable layout can easily complement several equipments and readers of laboratories. It can be quickly installed and easily integrated with around 100 laboratory equipments for superior adaptability.
The BenchBot robot features VWorks software to increase a unified automation system’s throughput. It can be used with several labware like filter microplates, PCR microplates, tube racks and deep-well microplates, which conforms to the American National Standards Institute/Society for Biomolecular Screening standards.
Nitin Sood, General Manager for Agilent’s Automation Solutions Division, has stated that the BenchBot Robot includes the superior functional features of the bigger automated microplate handlers in a small layout, enabling its utilization even in confined laboratory spaces. The robot also offers automation to several varying scientific workflows. He added that the BenchBot can be used with several laboratory devices, enhancing the usefulness of applications from microarray sample preparation and next-generation sequencing to numerous cell-based assays and high-throughput LC/MS sample management.
