Schilling Robotics LLC, the Davis-based designer and manufacturer of deep-sea robotic vehicles and other underwater equipment, announced that it has opened a new support centre in Singapore and begun construction of another one in Brazil. "These expansions demonstrate Schilling Robotics' commitment to global support for our customers," said CEO Tyler Schilling.
Schilling revealed that the centres will operated in partnership with Houston-based subsea oil and gas equipment company FMC Technologies Inc., which purchased a 45 percent stake in Schilling in 2008.
The centres will be staffed by Schilling-trained personnel hired from the respective areas. Each facility will carry approximately $1 million of spare parts inventory.
The Singapore facility has started taking orders and will be providing technical support, including onsite repair of all Schilling manipulator systems. The support facility in Macaé, Brazil, is a custom designed 3,000 sq ft (914 sq m) building.
The services provided by the support centres in Singapore and Brazil will be comparable to those offered at Schilling’s Gulf of Mexico and North Sea regional offices, the release said. The offices provide parts, repairs and technical training.
