Two heavy duty ROV systems from Schilling Robotics will join the SMIT global fleet soon.

Heavy Duty ROV Systems

These heavy duty systems are to be used for distances of 4000m and come equipped with a tether management system. Along with the ROV Schilling will provide control vans and the launch and recovery (LARS) systems. SMIT will be deploying the HD systems on their on board subsea diving systems to aid their global subsea operations that are always extending their reach. Schilling has scheduled the delivery of these systems during the first quarter of 2012.

Tyler Schilling of Schilling Robotics claimed that the Heavy Duty ROVs are the ideal solutions to the technological demands of the SMIT fleets. He added that its ROVs were capable of delivering good performance and reliable service. The operations manager of SMIT explained that with the help of the ROVs from Schilling they will be able to expand the reach of their maritime operations. He added that these heavy duty ROVs will enhance their fleet with surveying and tooling equipment which would be highly useful in IRM operations and construction in subsea. The ROVs will also support the diving vessels of SMIT.
