Two Teams from Creekside Middle School Move to State Robotic Competition

In the First Lego League Regional Robotic Competition, which was held on December 11, 2010, two Creekside Middle School teams were selected to move to state competition. The theme of this year’s competition is ‘Body Forward’.

Totally, four teams from the area schools had participated. The participants were assigned to design, build and program a robot with the help of microcomputers, sensors, LEGOs, and motors. Then, the teams had to guide their respective robots through a course with obstacles. The teams were also asked to conduct research and provide solution for a real-world problem.

All the teams were challenged to use biomedical engineering to optimize the potential of the body, to invent methods for injury repair, and to overcome genetic predispositions.

The two teams from Creekside Middle School are the Abdoughmenz and Augers teams. They will participate at the state competition, which will be held at the Forest View Educational Center, Arlington Heights, on January 14 and 15, 2011. One team from Northwood Middle School won one of the five awards presented at the regional competition.
