Stretching Minds to Start Robotics Course at Coventry Transport Museum

Stretching Minds has announced that its first robotics course will be offered at the Coventry Transport Museum in January 2011. The four-week course can be attended by students of age group between 8 and 14. Students will work in pairs and every pair will be given a LEGO robot and a computer.

The company was started by Caroline Piper and Geraldine Spelman and LEGO robots are used to educate children in the areas of Information Technology, math, science, design and technology. They had conducted trial sessions at several after-school clubs.

Caroline Piper has stated that LEGO is familiar among children and students are excited to work with these robots. She added that they are looking forward to increasing the number of weekend courses, training courses at schools, parties and holiday camps.

Students are trained to develop robots as well to program them for performing the desired tasks. Programs for the robots are downloaded from the computer and are modified as per the requirements.

According to Geraldine Spelman, their fun-based teaching method has become so popular that children want to include this even in their birthday celebrations.
