Adimec Machine Vision Cameras Improve LENSAR Laser System for Cataract Surgery

Using Adimec's high-performance machine vision cameras, the LENSAR™ Laser System offers cataract surgeons precision and accuracy, while optimizing overall visual outcomes. The LENSAR™ Laser System is one of the only femtosecond lasers built specifically for refractive cataract surgery. Because it was designed from the ground up, every aspect of the laser has been purposefully designed to meet the needs of cataract surgeons.

Adimec's QUARTZ Qs-4A60 is part of LENSAR's proprietary Augmented Reality™ 3-D imaging, measurement, and guidance system, which provides high-resolution ocular images in a single scan. The camera rotates and captures anterior segment imaging and biometry at 2 different angles at up to 8 different positions around the optical axis for a total of 16 potential images. Multiple scans identify the precise location of the relevant anatomical structures from the anterior cornea to the posterior capsule. Using optical ray-tracing and biometric data, LENSAR's Augmented Reality uses this information as well as other data to form a precise 3-D model of each individual patient's eye prior to surgery allowing for confident laser delivery. This technology facilitates precise surgical incisions and treatment for ultimate accuracy and reliable outcomes, all in a single procedure room.

Adimec's QUARTZ Qs OEM family of high-resolution global shutter CMOS cameras includes 4 Megapixels at 60 fps or 2 Megapixels at 120 fps over Camera Link Base in a small outline. These cameras offer exceptional image quality with dynamic range up to 90 dB and 8 dB shot noise improvement additional to the image sensor. The Qs-4A60 cameras offered LENSAR the essential imaging performance as well as the camera-to-camera consistency needed to support the tool matching requirements of demanding FDA-approved surgical systems.

In addition to the Qs-4A60, the Adimec A-1000 is also utilized in the LENSAR Laser System for alignment and overview purposes during surgery. The A-1000 provides 1 megapixel at 50 fps using interline transfer CCD image sensor technology. With several thousand fielded around the world in a variety of applications, the A-1000 has proven and predictable performance.

Adimec has partnered with LENSAR for several years to provide accurate and consistent solutions to deliver the most advanced technology to cataract surgeons.
