Global electronic components distributor Digi-Key Corporation, the industry leader in electronic component selection, availability and delivery, today announced they are once again an event sponsor for the third annual Minnesota State High School League (MSHSL) Robotics Tournament.
The event takes place on Saturday, May 17 at Williams Arena Sports Pavilion on the University of Minnesota campus in Minneapolis.
Thirty teams comprising hundreds of high school engineering enthusiasts from across the state will gather at the tournament to battle student-designed, -built and -controlled robots in a game called Aerial AssistSM. Exercise balls approximately two feet in diameter will be launched, caught, and scored by the teams’ robots in an attempt to claim the most points and be declared the state champions.
“Digi-Key is pleased to support the MSHSL Robotics competition for the second year in a row as part of our commitment to technology curriculums and budding technology students at the high school level,” said Rick Trontvet, Vice President, Human Resources. “We look forward to presenting the Next Generation Innovator of the Year award to this year’s aspiring young engineers.”
More than Just a Tournament
As a featured event sponsor, Digi-Key representatives will be present at the event from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. to speak with students who are interested in pursuing careers in technology or engineering.
