Evana Automation Specialists, a subsidiary of Phillips Service Industries (PSI) and leading Systems Integrator and builder of custom, automated assembly and test systems, recently received a contract from a Tier 1 automotive supplier to provide a custom automated assembly system that will assemble and test ABS brake control modules.
The system will press circuit boards, apply conformal coating to components, visually verify coating application, apply UV cure coating, feed and laser weld lids, perform leak and functional tests, as well as print and apply labels to the brake modules. Modules will receive complete serialization and traceability throughout the entire assembly process. Press data and test values will be captured and tied to the part serial number. Stations will be designed with quick change tooling to simplify processing of addition or different products in the future. The system is scheduled for delivery in February 2014.
“This is the fourth brake system that Evana has supplied to this facility,” said Randy Wire, General Manager of Evana Automation Specialists. “Based on the popularity of the automobile, our customer has been rewarded with increased work and turned to us for assistance to meet their production goals.”
Evana utilizes diverse technologies to specialize in motion control, robotics integration and system architecture by linking production equipment, material handling systems, data collection, networking, as well as computer software and hardware into flexible, unified technology. Test equipment can be integrated into assembly systems, stand alone systems for automatic testing, or manual test benches. Overall, Evana’s custom assembly and test solutions improve efficiency for manufacturers all over the world in industries like automotive, aerospace, defense, healthcare and alternative energy.
