Vigilant Robots' Autonomous Security Robot Wins ESX Maximum Impact Award

Vigilant Robots' autonomous security robot, the Vigilus Mobile Camera Platform, has garnered the "Maximum Impact Award" at The Electronic Security Expo (ESX.) The Electronic Security Expo is the only national trade show that focuses solely on the needs of security integrators and monitoring companies.

"Winning the Maximum Impact Award is especially encouraging. The focus of the show and the awards program is on products that improve the bottom line for security integrators and monitoring companies, and from the beginning of the design process we sought to make a product that not works well, but is also affordable to the consumer, provides profit at the sale for the integrator, and recurring revenue through the service contract," said Dr. Louise Gunderson, CEO. She continued, "I am encouraged because we have designed the right product at the right time, and after our conversations here today, we have come to the right place to find those forward thinking integrators who are looking for new solutions for their customers."

A glimpse into why such a high-tech machine can also be affordable comes from Chief Technology Officer Dr. Jim Gunderson, "Our robot was designed from the beginning with the integrator in mind, and we did that by asking them [security integrators] what our product had to do, what the maintenance package should look like, and what the ROI had to be for integrators to market and sell robotic security. We used off-the-shelf components wherever possible, and that helps keep our product and maintenance costs down."

"This is our third industry award in as many events, and I could not be more pleased!" said Pam Gheysar, Vice President of Business Development. "The industry is calling for solutions to security challenges. One of the biggest is overnight patrol of largely empty spaces, and our patrol-and-report autonomous robot that is also a mobile sensor platform fits that bill. Autonomy is key; that's what makes the robot a true force-multiplier, and that's where the savings come from. Better security, lower cost, that's the Vigilus MCP."
