Crossing Automation has declared that it has delivered an automated material tracking system for a major solar cell manufacturing company located in Taiwan. The material tracking system includes Automated Tracking System (ATS) and Auto ID software, Smart Storage and Smart Storage asset tracking racks.
This installation displays Crossing Automation’s automated materials transport expertise in semiconductor production, which can also be applied in enhancing productivity in related market segments.
May Su, VP of Product Marketing, Crossing Automation, has stated that their company is a major provider of automation systems to semiconductor manufacturing companies and currently they are working to widen their automation solutions into related markets. She mentioned that they are discussing with PV manufacturing industries to better identify the technology requirement in the solar segment and its relation with their capability set.
Crossing Automation has created highly adaptable ATS software, ideal for solar cell carriers all through the fab. Several sensors are installed in the carrier racks for placing solar cell carriers exactly on the rack. The architecture of the solar cell rack will be finalized after obtaining input from the client.
The automated tracking system enables the fab to trace solar cell lots in terms of competency and performance. The system assures quality, saves time by eliminating the requirement of manually labeling the carriers and also gets rid of binning errors. With the help of radio frequency identification (RFID), subsequent manufacturing step can be assigned to the cell carriers.
According to Su, since major solar plants depend on passive barcodes, their ATS software and RFID technology can profoundly help them to enter solar manufacturing segment. She mentioned that their company can offer an entire history of tracked materials, enabling active instantaneous updates.
