Omnivox, a management consultancy service provider, has received $33 million worth project Counter-IED Medical Technologies (CIMT), from the Joint Improvised Explosive Device (IED) Defeat Organization (JIEDDO) for the purpose of impeding, reducing and administering remedial measures for blast injuries, the major reason of deaths in Iraq and Afghanistan.
Lynn O'Connell, Omnivox Managing Consultant and Program Manager for CIMT, has reported that their staff is researching for a couple of years to address the issues related to road side bombs. He added that CIMT project can save human lives by using effective methods which include incorporating latest robotic techniques, using advanced equipments to ensure protection, providing effective training to the military personnel for quick recovery from injuries and also including new methods of diagnostics and treatment.
The key innovative counter-IED tasks for this project include prosthetics for Counter-IED virtual medical training, artificial replacements for Counter-IED robotics, assessing blood movement in body and brain, multiple electro-magnetic signal safety system, ‘Fit to Fight Today’ training program and body armor, and seat belt augmentations.
CIMT project features nine secondary contractors including Auburn University, BodiFLO, Carle Foundation Hospital, Gaussfield, MEDIC Foundation, Neuromuscular Engineering and Technology, ReadyOne Industries, VoxOptima, LLC and Welkins, LLC.
In response to JIEDDO’s announcement 09-01 for the development of counter-IEDs, Omnivox had submitted its project proposal which in turn was authorized for further realization by JIEDDO.
