Hansen Medical, an innovator of intravascular robotics, recently declared that it has received 30 additional U.S. patents since January 2011, thereby augmenting its intellectual property range in medical robotics. In addition, Hansen Medical shares rights to over 250 issued U.S. patents associated with medical robotics via licensing arrangement with third parties.
Additional coverage for Hansen Medical's Magellan Robotic System has been granted by some of the patents. The novel robotic system has been designed to be used in the treatment of various peripheral vascular diseases. At present, it is being commercialized in the EU and the U.S.
In addition, most of the patents offer additional coverage for Hansen Medical's Sensei X Robotic Catheter System that fosters novel solutions for potential improvement to robotic technologies.
