Hood Technology to Showcase Stabilized Imaging Systems for UAVs at AUVSI 2012

During the impending Unmanned Systems North America (AUVSI) show, Hood Technology will feature a series of innovative stabilized imaging platforms and payloads for unmanned aircraft, small unmanned aerial systems, manned and unmanned land vehicles, marine systems, stationary mounts, and ground systems.

This year’s AUVSI will take place from August 6 to 9, 2012 at Mandalay Bay, Las Vegas, NV. The 4-axis stabilized camera payloads, effective for long-range imaging from moving platforms, consist of high performance SWaP-efficient intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR) payloads.

Electro-optical (EO) cameras, laser markers, designators, and cooled MWIR infrared (IR) imagers have been built-within HoodTech's reduced size, weight and power (SWaP) camera turrets, which provide exceptional long-range imaging and laser efficiencies from in-flight, unstable, or other moving platforms. So far, Hood technology has supplied more than 4000 payloads in addition to extending full motion video (FMV) on aircraft logging over 600,000 combat flight hours.

HoodTech's advanced imaging EO/IR payloads are compact in size. Their robust configuration ensures reliable operation across innumerable launches and retrievals. These payloads can also be modified for specific requirements. Payloads can be specified with the Alticam Vision Processor (AVS), performing moving object detection, precision target tracking, and various image processing and payload control functions. Customized zoom EO, and cooled continuous-zoom MWIR thermal imaging fall under imaging sensors. NVG-compatible laser pointers and eyesafe laser rangefinders are the currently available laser channels.

At AUVSI, HoodTech will also demonstrate Aerovel's Flexrotor, a compact robotic aircraft having vertical takeoff & landing (VTOL) with transitions from wing-born flight, ensuring mission duration over 50 h.
