Daiwa House Releases Moogle Robot

Daiwa House has launched Moogle, a new crawlspace inspection robot, weighing 29 pounds. It can crawl through spaces as small as 50cm wide and 30cm tall for examining gaps found in foundations or in ventilations located under the buildings.

Moogle is equipped with two cameras, one for inspecting and the other one for directing the robot. Other features of the robot include a laser rangefinder and LED inspection lights including three brightness levels to cope with various circumstances. The robot is driven by rechargeable NiMH batteries which can last for an hour. Its entire operations can be controlled comfortably via Wi-Fi from a laptop placed in a safe location.

Daiwa has reported that the robot will be released by April 2011 and can be availed by both industries and individuals from April 2011. Customers can rent it on a monthly basis or can pay outright to own one.
