Liquid Robotics and Schlumberger declared the establishment of a joint venture called Liquid Robotics Oil & Gas.
Based on the wave-powered, autonomous marine vehicles ‘Wave Gliders’, the facility will provide services for the oil and gas industry. This joint venture will integrate Schlumberger’s oil and gas expertise and industry knowledge with Liquid Robotics Wave Glider technology to ensure global customers with innovative solutions.
In this joint venture, Liquid Robotics and Schlumberger have equal ownership. Besides offering fleets of Wave Gliders, Liquid Robotics will also provide the expertise needed for piloting, engineering, and maintenance. Schlumberger, on the other hand, will provide market leadership and upstream technology. The global oil and gas customers will benefit from this joint venture, which is a unique distributor of Wave Glider products and services.
Schlumberger’s Chief Technology Officer, Ashok Belani said that the company focuses on developing quality, innovative technologies to the oil and gas industry. The unique Wave Glider platform possesses new potentials for offshore exploration and production. Its areas of interest include subsea, seismic, and environmental monitoring.
Wave Gliders provide revolutionary potential to operate offshore for up to a year without involving fuel, a support vessel or crew, while on a mission. Fleets of Wave Gliders have crossed several miles across the oceans to provide valuable insights about the marine environment for defense, scientific, and industrial customers.
