A manufacture of portable roadways and runways, FAUN TRACKWAY USA will exhibit its unique UAV Landing Mat at the Association of Unmanned Aerial Vehicle Systems International's (AUVSI) exhibition to be held in Las Vegas.
The world’s first UAV Landing Mat is made up of lightweight aluminium matting ensuring a temporary smooth landing for UAVs of any kind and on any terrain conditions.
Following its autumn 2011 launch, this mat can be rapidly deployed by hand, avoiding foreign object damage, and thereby protecting UAV assets. Incorporated within the aircraft vehicles, arrestor gear allows the aircraft to quickly decelerate on landing.
FAUN TRACKWAY's suite of ground surfacing products is deployed by more than 40 different global countries. The UAV Landing Mat was first invested in December 2011 by Australian Armed Forces with an £ 800,000 order.
According to the VP business development at FAUN TRACKWAY USA, Mike Holdcraft, as UAVs lead the modern air combat and surveillance, the armed forces need to ensure appropriate runway infrastructure for supporting the operations in remote locations. The new UAV Landing Mat serves to be an innovative tool in the armoury for armed forces. It can be used effectively for retrieving drones in various climates. In addition, its potential to implement UAVs during demanding operations has been enhanced.
