Faun Trackway Builds UAV Landing Mat Technology

Faun Trackway, based at the US, has launched a new technology known as Aircraft Landing Mat (ALM), which has been specifically developed for landing of unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV).

The landing mat and temporary roadway technology was launched by Faun in July 2011 and has successfully completed several tests and demonstrations.

The CEO of Faun explained that the technology developed at Faun is designed for providing mobility and flexibility in any kind of environment and terrain that is encountered in unmanned operations. He added that these landing mats will prove very useful for UAVs, which have become an important part of the military operations. The Heavy Ground Mobility Solution from Faun behaves as a rugged temporary roadway and has been tested successfully by the Construction Battalions of the U.S Navy. The ALM testing is currently being conducted by the U.S Army’s Engineering Research and Development Center located at Mississippi. The VP of Faun emphasised on the stringent testing methods adopted at Faun and the efforts they undertake to provide customised solutions to their customers. He also stated that they will be manufacturing all their products only in the USA. The company will be exhibiting their technology at the United States Army Conference, which will be held at Washington from 10 to 12 Oct 2011.
