Mazor Robotics declares the global launch of the C-OnSite upgrade to its Renaissance system. Renaissance is a surgical guidance system of Mazor Robotics, ideal for spine procedures. By integrating C-OnSite, overall surgical procedure such as from planning, surgical execution to verification can be effectively achieved.
C-OnSite ensures low-radiation, rapid, intra-operative 3D verification of implant placement using captured images from any standard 2D C-Arm present within the operating room. It ensures clinical benefits of an intra-operative 3D imaging system, eliminating increased radiation and capital costs.
At present, post-operative CT enables verifying the placement of pedicle screws precisely. Since it occurs following the achievement of surgery, significant misplacements lead to a revision surgery. Commonly, Intra-operative imaging systems are 2-D and do not support verification purposes. 3D systems are expensive and rare.
As standard equipment in spine operating rooms, 2D C-Arms generates imagery that has been used by C-OnSite. A 15 sec C-Arm scan will be conducted after screw positioning; the resulting images are combined with preoperative CT-generated high-quality images. An intra-operative 3D axial view of the spine, results representing each pedicle screw’s precise location of and its connection with the spinal canal, eliminating the need for costly intra-operative 3D systems for spine surgery. Repositioning can be instantly achieved without being considered as a revision case after some days. The process is performed within 5-10 min with an additional OR time. C-OnSite application will be included in all Renaissance systems delivered after May 28, 2012.
