Metso, a global supplier of sustainable technology and services for pulp and paper, recycling, automation, power generation, construction and mining industries, has signed a contract with Allimand, a France-based paper machine manufacturer, to supply a complete automation package.
The automation technology will be used in the new paper machine that will be installed in Miquel y Costas’ new facility in la Pobla de Claramunt, Spain. Miquel y Costas, a Spanish group including 13 companies, is a global expert in the manufacture of specialty lightweight papers, especially hi-tech cigarette papers. The latest generation automation technology will help the Spanish group to expand its paper portfolio and also to develop new solutions.
Miquel y Costas and Allimand have chosen Metso’s automation technology as it is highly reliable and has proved successful in terms of performance. The automation package will include Metso IQ quality control system with CD and MD quality controls, Metso IQ Moisturizer, Metso Process and Quality Vision for web break analysis and web inspection, and Metso DNA automation system for drive, process and machine controls. The installation will take place in the last quarter of 2012.
