Stemmer Imaging has launched ADLink GIE62+ Power over Ethernet (PoE) frame grabber for enhancing the utilization of PoE cameras in various machine vision applications. The company has reported that since a limited number of PCs feature direct interfaces for PoE, their latest frame grabber offers an easy and cost-saving method of employing the innovative aspects of PoE cameras.
The ADLink PoE frame grabber facilitates the transfer of both data and power to the PoE camera by means of a single Ethernet cable. Hence an exclusive power supply and power cable is not necessary for the camera, resulting in easy installation and reduced cost overhead and space requirement. This power grabber belongs to the PCI Express x4 type and it accommodates two distinct GigE ports. The ADLink GIE62+ PoE frame grabber is compatible with non-PoE GigE vision camera models.
The ADLink GIE62+ links the various advantages of ADLink GIE62+ with GigE data transfer rates featuring up to 1000 Mb/s over a cable length of 100 m. The GigE ports also support Link Aggregation-enabled cameras in which the rate of data transfer is doubled by connecting the two Ethernet ports.
The frame grabber can automatically identify both PoE and non PoE systems linked to it for avoiding the transfer of power to non-PoE camera models. The linking of frame grabber with PoE or non-PoE cameras is protected by means of a power-management IC which offers security against short-circuit, current influx and current-limit. The PoE cameras are hot-plugged and it eliminates the necessity of restarting the PC.
