Hamilton Robotics, a supplier of precision liquid handling systems, storage and laboratory automation, has launched a new automated DNA sample enrichment solution on the MICROLAB STARlet Liquid Handling Workstation.
The workflow solution incorporates the REM e liquid handling system from Roche, and allows about eight DNA samples for successive sequencing on the GS FLX System. The workflow solution is capable of automating complex enrichment process, and provides more consistent results, reduces variability and saves time.
In fact, the workflow system for REM e integration eliminates the lengthy manual work and offers automated procedure. It offers five diverse REM e protocols, which are available as complete automated STARlet methods. The solution includes predefined hardware to precisely place the REM e Tube Racks and the REM e Deck module on the STARlet deck. The REM e module can do vacuum filtration, vortexing and magnetic bead capture and heating. The STARlet system’s 1000 µL pipetting channels handle the entire liquid transfer steps.
Hamilton Company and 454 Life Sciences, a Roche Company, will leverage the NIMBUS and STAR line products to develop automation solutions for the GS Junior System.
REM e integrated MICROLAB NIMBUS workstation will provide a compact and low-cost robotic platform that can meet the lower-throughput requirements of GS Junior customers.
