The Cambridge, Massachusetts-based provider of systems integration and software required for development of autonomous vehicle design, Jaybridge Robotics has announced that the company will be sponsoring the MIT Battlecode Programming Competition being held this year.
The programming tournament is currently in the 11th year and both MIT and non-MIT teams can participate. The objective of the Battlecode tournament is the development of autonomous virtual robots that will compete as a player in the computer game “Battlecode” matches. The team members will develop a player program for their virtual robot by combining software engineering, artificial intelligence (AI) and battle strategies.
A total of eight teams will be chosen from the qualifiers to compete in the final tournament being held in MIT’s Kresge Auditorium, and can win up to $40,000.
The President of Jaybridge Robotics, Jeremy Brown expressed the excitement of sponsoring this event by stating that the Battlecode Programming Competition represents a unique mixture of tactical understanding, out-of-the-box robotics concepts, programming talent and a lot of fun. Brown added that the developers provide intelligence and skills that gaming, robotics and other industries will benefit from.
The other sponsors for the programming event include Dropbox, Oracle, Spark, Amazon Web Services, Palantir, Akamai, Two Sigma, Google and Blizzard Entertainment.
Founded by graduates of Carnegie Mellon University and MIT, Jaybridge Robotics provides tools and software for and intuitive human-robot interfaces, vehicle navigation, motion, control, perception and precision visualization for design and development of autonomous vehicles.
