Hansen Medical, a company specializing in flexible robotics and robotic technology for three-dimensional control of catheter movement, has declared that it will display the new, advanced Magellan Robotic System at the Leipzig Interventional Course (LINC) to be held from 25 to 28 January at the Trade Fair Leipzig in Germany.
In addition to the Magellan Robotic System, the company will also showcase its NorthStar Robotic Catheter, which has been specifically developed to work with the Magellan Robotic System. The catheter simplifies and improves therapeutic intervention and catheter navigation through various clinical cases in tangential vasculature. Both the NorthStar Robotic Catheter and the Magellan Robotic System are CE certified and will be launched in the European market.
Hansen Medical’s President and Chief Executive Officer, Bruce Barclay informed that based on pre-clinical work and feedback from renowned clinicians across the globe, the new products can transform the way doctors navigate the vasculature. He further informed that both the catheter and the system provide enhanced flexibility via robotic manipulation of a guidewire from a remote workstation and also via autonomous distal tip control of a sheath and a catheter. Additionally, the technology offers significant clinical advantages to doctors by enabling predictable and accurate catheter navigation of tangential vessels, Barclay said.
Hansen Medical will demonstrate the products at LINC. It will also host a course on the Magellan Robotic System. Professor Nick Cheshire, M.D., of St. Mary's Hospital in London will be directing the course.
