Hansen Medical to Showcase its Robotic Catheter System at Symposium

Hansen Medical, a Mountain View, California-based company that develops medical systems based on robotics technology for accurate three-dimensional control of catheter movement, will be demonstrating its Sensei X Robotic Catheter System and other related products at the 17th Annual Boston Atrial Fibrillation Symposium.

Sensei X Robotic Catheter System

The conference will be held at the Seaport Hotel and World Trade Center in Boston from 12 to 14 January.

The Sensei X Robotic Catheter System, developed by Hansen Medical, is a flexible robotic platform that combines three-dimensional catheter control and visualization. It is powered by a robotic arm that enables catheter stability, navigation and positioning within the heart of the patient. This robotic catheter system provides stability of the catheter with force sensing, instinctive and accurate catheter placement control. It minimizes radiation for both the patient and the physician.

Physicians will be able to perform 3D catheter mapping and driving with a help of a specialized Sensei X Robotic Catheter System, which is incorporated to a St. Jude Medical EnSite 3D Mapping System, at the symposium. Two Demo Kiosks will also be displayed at the conference so that physicians can perform driving and catheter mapping in a virtually simulated environment.

Bruce Barclay, president and CEO of Hansen Medical, stated that physicians can truly experience the instinctive nature of the Sensei X Robotic Catheter System’s 3D catheter control and visualization, and they will witness the potential of this robotic catheter system in patient care. He also added that an increasing number of electrophysiologists are using the Sensei X Robotic Catheter System to provide better care for their patients as well as to expand their practices.
