Accuray Incorporated has declared that University Hospital of Ostrava (UHO) Clinic of Oncology has incorporated its CyberKnife robotic system for cancer treatment and has become the first Medical center in Czech Republic to include robotic surgery in cancer treatment.
The UHO academic unit has included this robotic system in an exclusive building, thereby enhancing its oncology department. CyberKnife enables UHO to widen their treatment options by precisely offering high dosage of radiation and completing the treatment within a few sessions. The hospital is focused on treating tumors located outside the cranium including prostate, liver and lungs.
David Feltl, Head of the Oncology Clinic at the UHO has stated that by including the CyberKnife robotic system they can treat those tumors which cannot be easily dealt with conventional surgical methods due to any of the factors including size, shape or nearness of the tumor cells to major organs or tissues, patient’s physiological conditions etc.
Vittorio Puppo, General Manager, Accuray EIMEA (Europe, India, Middle East and Africa) expressed his pleasure in introducing CyberKnife to the Czech Republic and he added that this new incorporation facilitates cancer patients to easily avail CyberKnife treatment thereby serving as a supplementary treatment method for those who were not given any therapy options till date.
