At the DEMO Fall 2011 conference, OLogic, a provider of consumer robotics products, has announced the launch of A.M.P. the Automated Music Personality.
The A.M.P. is a music player having two-wheels and self-balancing features. It is an Android smartphone application with a room-thumping audio system.
The A.M.P. has the facility to play music from an attached electronic music player or from smartphones. It has music tracks that are built into the system. The mobile robot has an in-built smartphone application that allows users to command the robot and also stream music into the robot. The A.M.P. has a remote control that can be attached to the back of the music robot. This allows the robot to be controlled from outside of the smartphone application.
OLogic’s CEO and Co-Founder, Ted Larson, demonstrated the music robot at the conference. He made the robot to go through a sequence of dancing and driving motions in order to showcase the music playing prowess and the robust balancing capabilities of the music robot.
OLogic’s COO and Co-Founder, Bob Allen, stated that the increase in the usage of smartphones justifies the necessity of leveraging the computing power that consumers have in the products they currently use. Introduction of novel products that convert smartphones into robotic platforms thus makes sense. The company has developed new brands to gain from this new demand.
OLogic is an embedded systems R&D company that provides research and development services for Walt Disney Imagineering, Hasbro, Carnegie Mellon University, and other companies.
