Adept Technology, a supplier of intelligent vision-guided robots, and Swisslog, a provider of automated medication management and materials transport solutions for hospitals, have inked a licensing and distribution deal to supply autonomous mobile robots (AMRs) to hospitals across North America.
According to the deal signed on July 21 2011, Swisslog has licensed Adept Technology’s proprietary AMR technology and become an exclusive distributor for the future-generation AMRs that will be based upon Adept Technology’s smart mobile robotic system called MT400.
Swisslog will also provide exclusive services such as interdepartmental and intra-laboratory transportation of linens, blood samples, specimens, pharmaceuticals and laboratory samples and other transportation weighing below 100 lbs per payload.
The President and Chief Executive Officer at Adept Technology, John Dulchinos stated that the company is happy to collaborate with Swisslog, a pioneer in integrated transportation solutions, to supply future-generation AMRs to hospitals in North America. Swisslog has vast experience in offering advanced solutions to healthcare facilities in the shifting of materials effectively and safely, he said. The company is proud about its selection of an exclusive provider of intelligent AMRs to Swisslog, he added.
The President at Swisslog Healthcare Solutions North America, Charlie Kegley stated that Adept Technology has vast experience in robotics technology. The combination of Swisslog’s wide range of sales, deployment and support capabilities and Adept Technology’s technological knowledge will offer advanced AMRs to hospitals to improve their productivity, patient care and strengthen their bottom-line, he added.
