A software vendor for the media and broadcast industry in Europe, SGT has announced that TPC, a Swiss-based audiovisual production firm has chosen VEDA software solution for their Zurich broadcast center.
SGT’s automation solution has already been used by Radio Télévision Suisse (RTS) and Radiotelevisione svizzera di lingua italiana (RSI) which cater to Switzerland’s French speaking and Italian speaking communities respectively.
The project manager at TPC, Jens Schulz stated that since VEDA has been used by sister companies of TPC (RTS & RSI), VEDA was chosen for Zurich’s HD broadcast center to ensure the group’s homogeneity with technology.
The playout automation system will be implemented for four transmission networks that include SFInfo, SF1, SF2 and one reserve channel. In order to guarantee high security, it will be dependent on an active/active security cluster and will be ready to be aired by the first quarter next year.
The objectives being pursued by TPC include digitization of all media and deployment of a playout automation system, integration of improved media asset management applications, communication with the PROTEUS traffic system, support of multi-channel sounds and high-definition playout formats and secure playouts.
The VEDA automation-based playout automation solution involves a traffic interface, preparation and ingest areas meant for file ingest and video validation and for preparation of playlists, file management for integrating a quality check analyzer and a storage interface, control room areas and broadcast management areas which will host five VEDA automation clients, eight automation servers and a playout device control. VEDA automation will enable working on live audio from the source to ensure high quality sound in stereo and 5.1.
