KUKA Robotics showcased the new QUANTEC product generation at GIFA, starting on the 28th of June. The KUKA WorkVisual software platform along with the KR C4 robot controller will greatly simplify the automation of the foundry industry.
Owing to the high degree of flexibility offered by KUKA robots, they find applications ranging from automotive plants to steel mills, foundries and forge shops. These robots are extremely durable and highly resistant to harsh environments. Typically foundry environments are hot and dry, KUKA robots are provided with protective seals, which shield them from sand, heat, humidity and cleaning agents.
Another distinguishing feature of the QUANTEC Series is their compact size. The series is able to handle payloads ranging from 90 to 300 kg and can reach heights of 3,100 mm. At GIFA, KUKA displayed the foundry variants of the QUANTEC series, comprising of ultra K-F, KR 210 R3100 F ultra and KR 180 R2500 F extra. All these robots are able to operate in a high degree of fouling and high temperatures. The KR C4 controller comes with an easily understandable and organised system architecture. All individual modules communicate intelligently through a joint database and share common infrastructure. KUKA Key Technology Management offers optimized solutions for integrating two automatic assembly lines within the minimum available space and automation solutions for upgrading an existing line. These solutions are designed as per specific requirements from the customers. KUKA robotics offers the ‘Safe Robot’ technology that ensures the safety of human workers and efficiency of foundry operations.
