Mazor Robotics Introduces Renaissance Robotic Surgical Guidance Systems

Mazor Robotics introduces the world’s first spinal robotic surgical guidance system named Renaissance. The guidance system is of great help for surgeons while performing complicated spinal surgeries and other procedures.

Renaissance Surgical Guidance Systems

Renaissance has been checked and validated with the help of SpineAssist, the system that Mazor had previously used for spine surgeries. SpineAssist has an established track record of more than 2,000 successful spinal surgeries and 12,000 implants. An article published in the journal, Spine hailed the success of the technology of Mazor Robotics, by stating that it was far more accurate than freehand surgeries and reduced neurologic risks. Renaissance is built using advanced hardware and software technologies with a human interface. Numerous clinical applications such as osteotomies, translaminar-facet implants and transfacet can be executed using the new system. With the enhanced surgical safety and accuracy offered by Renaissance, complicated and risky operations such as cranial surgeries may be conducted with its guidance in future. By using Renaissance, the need for performing pre-operative CTs is brought down by 50%, thereby; the patients are exposed to lesser amounts of radiation. Mazor has worked along with surgeons in designing surgical tools and other accessories that help in reducing the scope for human error.
