KUKA Systems has successfully ventured into the Canadian solar panel manufacturing segment, showing its ability to customize its automated manufacturing solutions to meet the needs of a solar panel manufacturer.
The company delivers fully automated manufacturing lines to photovoltaic panel makers around the world. It provided automated solutions from cell layout to quality control and module assembly irrespective of size or type.
KUKA Systems has received a $12 million contract to install three partial automated framing lines for its Canadian client. These automated framing lines will be used to pack, test, frame, and trim photovoltaic panels. Each automated line comprises five robots along with conveyors, applicators, testing and handling devices.
Installation of these automated production solutions started back in the first quarter of 2011. This client is constructing the largest solar panel manufacturing unit, in southern Ontario, Canada. Each line is estimated to be capable of producing 120MW annually. The post-lamination lines were first constructed at KUKA systems, tested there itself, and then it was disassembled and transported to the customer’s place for reassembly.
