FreeWave Technologies, a company manufacturing the highly reliable licensed radios and spread spectrum for vital data transmission, gave a demonstration of their wireless data radio solutions such as the FGR2-PE and the IO Sensor Module, which would be utilized in a number of Smart Grip applications at the ABB Automation and Power World Conference in Booth #55 and #56 at the Technology and Solutions Center.
The IO Sensor Module would merge communications and measurement in one package for measuring voltage, temperature and current in a three phase sensor. The data from the power line is sent to the utility for management and monitoring. The FGR2 Series of wireless radios created by FreeWave provide advanced noise filtering capacities along with interference handling and could precisely transmit data for almost 60 miles with the lowest power consumption.
According to Curt Goldman, FreeWave’s Business Development Executive, their IO sensor module and the FGR2 series radios would give their customers, who were developing Smart Grid networks, a highly strong and dependable solution. Their technologies could assuredly deliver transmission of critical data for applications of distribution automations in the Smart Grid sector. Moreover, Goldman also presented a paper on Wireless Communications for Distribution Automation during the conference, and review the usage of FreeWave Technologies developed radio transceivers in the Smart Grid for remote monitoring without handwiring control in the infrastructure.
