CoroWare, an innovative solution provider for economical telepresence, service oriented applications, and mobile robotics, declared that it will support Robotics Operating System (ROS), an open-source meta-operating system for mobile robots, on few of its product lines.
Moreover, CoroWare will also support an ROS early adopter program for those who are building applications on the CoroBot and Explorer product lines.
Currently, trainers, researchers, and developers working in the robotics field are working on platforms built on open source software components and commercial off the shelf (COTS) hardware, which enables them to implement mobile robot applications quickly and economically. To meet the increasing demand for open robotics platforms, CoroWare will support ROS on few of its mobile robot product lines.
Researchers can take advantage of the vast collection of tools, libraries, and system software supported by the ROS. This enables users to spend more time and effort in developing application specific software and algorithms. For Embedded Systems, CoroWare will support ROS on both Ubuntu Linux and Windows 7. The ROS Early Adopter Program will be launched soon for developers who create innovative mobile robot applications on the CoroBot and Explorer platforms.
