Eight-Member Team of Eight-Graders Win Judge’s Award at Grand Forks

Chronic Fusion, the eighth grade robotics team from Cheney Middle School won the Judge’s Award First Lego League Championship, North Dakota, held in early February.

The theme for this year’s robotics and research challenge held in Grand Forks was “Body Forward”. Over 25 teams from Minnesota, North Dakota and South Dakota participated and each team displayed unique and innovative methods to heal injuries, maximize the potential of the human body and also overcome genetic predispositions.

This year’s robotics and research challenge was “Body Forward,” in which teams explored innovative ways to repair injuries, overcome genetic predispositions, and maximize the body’s potential.

Coached by their teacher Chad Anderson, and with team members Derek Schreiner, Natasha Gatheridge, Shaodi Reed, Tom Tran, Carly Bauer, Landon Holmstrom, Bailey Aanenson and Brandon Witt; they titled their project “The Nano Gecko Band-Aid Cold Compress.”

The “Brilliant Bricks” of Tri-County Public School won the first in Robot Design Awards while the second place went to Kittson Central’s “Mindstorm Maniacs I”.
