Wishdoing, a local restaurant chain in China, has installed two robots to cook appetizing Chinese dishes within a span of three minutes. The restaurant has become the first in the nation to deploy robot chefs.
The restaurant workers have mentioned that the robots can prepare eight well-liked Chinese cuisines like spicy diced chicken with peanuts and Mapo Tofu, bean curd with chili sauce and Kung Pao Chicken.
The robot features buttons, enabling the staff to select a dish, name of the constituents as well as the required amount. The robot chef resembles massive upper areas of kitchen fitted with hot stoves and iron pots. After preparing the dish constituents by turning around the pot, the robot chef will start preparing the dish.
The robot cleans the pot from an earlier meal within three minutes, mixes the ingredients of the dish, completes the preparation and then transfers the dish on to a serving plate.
Shanghai Qi Ding Food Development, the parent company of the restaurant, has decided to include the robots in all of its 100 branches nationwide. During the Shanghai World Expo 2010, the robot chefs were showcased at the Shanghai Corporate Pavilion and were well received by the public. Ma, an official at Shanghai Qi Ding Food Development, has stated that chef robots assure low emissions of carbon, food hygiene, and standard tastes at all branches, thereby turning out to be a trend in the future fast food segment.
The company has reported that they will not reduce the staff because of the robot and chefs need not worry about their job security. Ma has added that the company would retain conventional cooking methods as well.
