The invention of artificial neural networks that can imitate the real processes of neurons in the brain has caused a huge leap forward in artificial intelligence. There has been an increasing number of ways in which machine-based learning technology is becoming a normal part of everyday life. Below are just some of the areas in which artificial intelligence has made a big impact.

Health Care
There are many ways in which AI can be useful to the medical community. One of these is to help diagnose patients faster and with increasing accuracy. Traditionally, doctors and nurses need to manually input and review lots of data before they can come to a suitable diagnosis for their patient.
Nowadays, high-performance computer systems allow AI systems to provide instantaneous insights into a patient’s medical history. This is called deep learning and requires graphic processing to be undertaken. In addition to this, these computer systems can be used to develop new treatments while reducing the number of diagnostic errors. This has the overall effect of reducing the cost of healthcare while also preventing adverse reactions.
This type of AI can be seen in Google’s Launchpad studio which aims to create applied machine learning startups, such as Byteflies. Byteflies is a company which has joined the program and is developing a plug-and-play platform for wearables. The hope is that other software developers can use the AI to convert raw data into actual insights.
Banking
Artificial intelligence can help the finance industry enhance their business by improving products and overall customer experience. By streamlining their operations, banks and building societies are able to improve their services and tools to make simpler interactions.
Presently, financial institutions use AI to collect and analyze large data sets. AI has also been known to use location data to help banks detect fraudulent and criminal activity and even identify patterns of suspicious behavior so that it can be stopped before too much damage can occur.
Eldercare
Treatment of the elderly has been an increasing priority for many people. For families with elderly relatives, it can be difficult to strike a balance between independence and care. It is therefore simple to understand the growing popularity of in-home robotic assistants.
For those who are not willing to leave their homes, this type of AI could be the perfect solution. Families can be assured that their loved one’s have assistance while also maintaining their independence and lifestyle.
Stanford University is working with medical and AI researchers in order to make this vision into reality. In the near future, these robots could help with everyday tasks and improve living conditions. The university has invented a system of infrared cameras that can monitor the elderly and detect if an elderly person falls and needs help.
In addition to this, the system can also monitor eating and sleeping habits, slowed movements, fluid intake, chair and bed immobility, urinary frequency, fevers, substance abuse and alcohol consumption as well as many others. This allows families and the elderly to have peace of mind.
AI has long been depicted as science-fiction but it can be used in a variety of ways that can improve the everyday lives of humans. They can be used to eliminate difficult tasks, improve medical care, enhance the lives of the elderly or even just making a job easier. It is known that the impacts of AI can be seen in most areas of industry and will be used more and more in the future.
