Robotics Rodeo III to be Hosted at Fort Benning

In order to host the Robotics Rodeo III, the U.S. Army Tank Automotive Research, Development, and Engineering Center has collaborated with the Joint IED Defeat Organization (JIEDDO), and the Army Capabilities Integration Center (ARCIC). The third Robotics Rodeo will be launched at the GA-based Maneuver Battle Lab from June 20-29, 2012.

ReconRobotics to Supply Recon Scout XT Robots for U.S. Marine Corps

ReconRobotics recently declared that it has achieved a contract worth $1.7 million from the Robotic Systems Joint Project Office (RS JPO) to deliver 126 Recon Scout XT micro-robot kits for the U.S. Marine Corps. The Recon Scout XT is expected to be delivered by April 30, 2012.

Fire Fighting Robot SAFFiR Designed by NRL

Researchers at the Naval Research Laboratory have organized an interdisciplinary team to construct a humanoid robot that is capable of performing fire-fighting with future combatants. A humanoid-type robot was preferred due to its efficient maneuver in complex environments, besides its promising potentials for warfighting applications in the Navy and Marine Corps.
