GridSense has released LineIQ, an advanced remote monitoring system for distribution and transmission lines.
Lindon Shiao, CEO of GridSense, has stated that the LineIQ helps electric utilities to enhance their competency. He mentioned that traditionally whenever a defect is identified on the grid, an electric utility will immediately shut down big nearby locations to avoid its dispersion. However with the LineIQ the system will be able to instantaneously report faults, enabling utilities to narrow down line defects and shut down service in only the affected location.
LineIQ includes several significant functionalities like measurement of voltage and monitoring of additional factors. It also offers several distribution and smart grid automation applications like line balancing, outage management and capacity optimization.
The company will display its LineIQ system at the Distributech conference, which will be organized in San Diego between February 1 and 3, 2011. GridSense will also showcase other products related to distribution and transmission grid including TransformerIQ series in the conference.
