Chowbotics Takes Salad-Making Robot on Tour

Food robotics company Chowbotics will take its first product, Sally the Salad Robot, on tour this spring to several destinations across the U.S. The Chowbotics team is excited to introduce their salad-making robot to those interested in advancements in food service automation outside of Silicon Valley.

"We are thrilled to showcase Sally to many people who, until now, may have only read about it," says Dr. Deepak Sekar, founder and CEO of Chowbotics. "Now, they can see and experience America's first commercially available fresh food-making robot for themselves."

First, Sally will become a permanent fixture at WeWork Legacy West near Dallas this spring, where those utilizing the co-working space will be able to try the robot. Next, Sally will travel to New York City from Tuesday, April 24 through Thursday, April 26, where the robot will whip up salads for the budding entrepreneurs at Galvanize West SoHo and take individual appointments. Sally made its initial debut last April at the Galvanize San Francisco campus.

From there, the team will make their way to the Midwest for the Marketing Executives Group (MEG) conference and National Restaurant Association (NRA) Show in Chicago. Dr. Sekar and Chowbotics' Vice President of Marketing, Slaton Smith, will lead a presentation at the MEG conference on Thursday, May 17 at 4:45 pm entitled Robotics and Food Service: Applications and Implications, Featuring Sally the Salad Robot. Sally will conduct salad-making demonstrations during the NRA Show at booth 11317 from Saturday, May 19 through Tuesday, May 22.

Sally offers more than 1,000 custom salad options. Salads are created in about a minute and a half with any combination of up to 22 ingredients, and users can fine tune the calorie total by adding or subtracting ingredients via touchscreen. Like a vending machine, Sally doesn't require staffing; it can create salads around the clock.
